Rural Minnesota Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (RMCEP), located in Detroit Lakes, MN is an employment training agency that is a private nonprofit. With a little over 50 years in business, they currently operate 8 locations that run federal, state, and county programs covering 19 counties in Northwestern Minnesota.
For over 50 years, Rural Minnesota CEP has been committed to improving the lives of people in Minnesota, existing to serve people of all ages to prepare for employment opportunities and proud of the fact that their agency is a leader in delivering workforce development services. Every year RMCEP serves thousands of enrolled clients and has an average of over 45,000 visits to the eight WorkForce Centers located within our service area.
Results
RMCEP has been using HarrisData AppsInHD HRIS since January 2016 and has been enjoying the benefits of the cloud base technology. Nancy Bisek, Comptroller at Rural Minnesota CEP, explains the benefits of the AppsInHD Financials suite:

As federal guidelines were changing RMCEP needed more functionality than their homegrown system could provide and made the switch to AppsInHD. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act demands specific requirements from their HRIS system.
When recalling the transition from homegrown to AppsInHD, Dave Schumacher, IT Manager, explained “The wage allocation rule is a godsend; it has been one of the biggest time savers for us.”
RMCEP has also been using the AppsInHD Employee Self-Service application. It has allowed them to save resources by not printing pay statements.
“We have all the email accounts placed in the system, and by midafternoon on payday, our staff is able to locate their statement. This has been well received by the RMCEP staff.”
Dave has been converting to the new User Interface of AppsInHD to the cloud, eliminating the need for IT operations staff. RMCEP’s cloud solution takes care of its software updates and upgrades, disaster recovery services, and more, allowing for more time to focus on running their business.
“The fact that it is cloud-based is nice, it allows me to work remotely on the system.”
